The Gold Coast Photographic Society is excited to be the organiser of this inaugural competition. Taking images or photographs can be fun and exciting. Producing them in print can ensure they have a great impact on friends and family. Producing a Photobook is another step in developing your photography and creativity skills. Whether this is your first ever Photobook, or you have done many before, this competition is an ideal way to focus on producing something that can be everlasting.
Overview of the Sections
[1] Open Theme
- The photobook contents must tell a Story or focus on a Theme on any topic or issue through images
- There is no restriction on the Story or Theme; however, stories or themes that focus on important contemporary issues are encouraged
[2] Gold Coast Theme: past, present or future
- You are to present a Photobook with photos taken within the Gold Coast Region defined by the City Council boundaries. This can be on the:
- History of the Gold Coast or the current life on the Gold Coast
- What makes the Gold Coast unique or what will be the Gold Coast’s future
- Or any combination of these
- You are to present a Photobook with photos taken within the Gold Coast Region defined by the City Council boundaries. This can be on the:
[3] Youth Section
- A photobook that meets the requirements of either Section [1] or [2] submitted by an individual Under the Age of 25 years at time of submission. The individual must reside in the Gold Coast area or attend a Gold Coast School, TAFE, College or University
- There is also a sub-section for individuals aged 18 and Under
All Entrants can submit up to 2 books in either the Open and the Gold Coast Theme (and a maximum of 3 Photobooks overall).
The Youth Prize is a sub-category of both the Open and Gold Coast theme Sections – the maximum of 2 Photobooks per Section still applies.
Key Dates:
All participants must register their intent to submit a book no later than 31st January 2022
- November 2021 open for registration
- It is recommended that photobooks be submitted to the relevant publisher by 10th February to allow sufficient time for production. Production times will vary between different publishers of photobooks.
- 16th March 2022 Registration closes, and books are to be submitted by 6:00pm
- 17th March 2022 books judged
- Photobooks will be surely displayed at the Rotary Broadwater Chapel by the Sea from 29th to 31st
- A formal awards ceremony will occur on the
31st March 2022, 2:00 to 3:00pm

Entry Fees
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Gold Coast City Council through their Community Grants Funds, there is no entry fee for this competition.

Photobook Drop-off and Collection Details
When posting or delivering your Photobook, please ensure that it is in a cover of some type (ie: plastic, paper cover or envelope as examples).
